Congratulations to Mary-Beth Wagner, 2019 Volunteer of the Year! Last year she contributed well over 100 hours helping to plan, organize and set up the Winter Raptor Fest WILD Encounter – then staffed it on both days! She’s not afraid to get her hands dirty, either.
Last year she organized, oversaw and implemented a tree planting project at our Alfred Z. Solomon Grassland Bird Viewing Area. The trees will provide a winter roost for Short-eared owls and serve as a windbreak for the viewing blind. Mary-Beth’s support and dedication to our organization and her passion for our mission is one of our hidden assets, and we look forward to another wonderful year with her by our side!.
Congratulations to Mark Janey, 2019 Volunteer of the Year! Mark serves on GBT’s Land and Winter Raptor Fest Committees and actively assists on various projects throughout the year. If there is a task we need volunteers to help with Mark is there…from putting in grommets in background fabric panels, to requesting donations or ads to setting up and breaking down Winter Raptor Fest – and everything in between! He really is part of the glue that helps hold the Winter Raptor Fest together! Mark also could be seen in the grasslands with Mary-Beth helping to plant those roosting trees.
Thank you Mary-Beth and Mark for everything you have done and continue to do for GBT and the birds! We’ll be honoring Mark and Mary-Beth at a luncheon with board members and staff in March.
